Love and Death - Interview with Brian "Head" Welch

May 6th, 2012

It's been seven years since Brian "Head" Welch left Korn. Since then he has been out on the road speaking about the books he has written as well as performing his own music. He recently made a distinction between his speaking engagements and performing by dubbing his band Love and Death. Currently out on the road supporting POD and Red, their stop in Baltimore on the 6th of May happened to be quite timely as the night prior, Brian joined his former Korn bandmates onstage at Carolina Rebellion for "Blind". Of course we had to ask about that! More…

New Years Day - Interview with Ashley Costello

April 26th, 2012

Having seen New Years Day a few times the end of last year, of course we would be off to see them again when they came through town on the Fight to Unite tour. This time we were lucky to snag an interview with frontwoman Ashley Costello. Now here is someone that gives it her all. Having injured herself earlier on the tour, she had to be helped onstage and was restricted in her movements. She still gave 110% to her performance! More…

Shinedown - House of Blues

April 21st, 2012

It's been a year and a half since we have seen Shinedown. With their newly released fourth album Amaryllis recently released they are out headlining the 2012 Avalanche Tour.

The House of Blues in Atlantic City was sold out and after sets by Art of Dying and Adelita's Way it was finally time for Shinedown to hit the stage. From the beginning notes of "Sound of Madness" to the very end of "Fly From the Inside", the venue had this charged feeling about it. It was no longer just watching a band perform onstage, the crowd was one with the band. More…

We Came As Romans

We Came As Romans/Emmure/Woe Is Me - Ramshead Live!

April 12th, 2012

After spending a week on last years Vans Warped Tour, it's been great seeing the same bands perform longer sets indoors with production. We Came As Romans played Ramshead Live! on April 12th with Emmure and Woe Is Me in tow and I have to say, the pit never stopped moving the entire night. There were even times during each of the bands that those near the edges had to scramble up the steps to avoid being drawn into the tangled bodies that encompassed the floor of the venue. More…

Adrian Patrick of Otherwise

Otherwise - Ramshead Live!

March 16th, 2012

Have you seen the band Otherwise? Hailing from the "City of Sin" itself, Las Vegas Nevada, Otherwise is ready to take the world by storm. Opening up for Pop Evil, the band had the crowd rocking at Ramshead Live! With a full schedule in front of them that includes supporting Lacuna Coil and many festival stops, it won't be long before they are the headliners packing a club the size of this one. Catch them now and later you can say, "I saw them when. . ." More…

Jay Gordon of Orgy

Orgy - Ramshead Live!

March 10th, 2012

It's been eight years since we have seen Orgy so when word of a tour and new music were heard, the excitement grew. Then came the news that the lineup that we knew as Orgy would not be the band that we would be seeing; frontman Jay Gordon was bringing back Orgy but with other musicians. Of course this sparked a bit of social media flurry to say the least. Those Jay had gathered weren't strangers but very familiar faces as guitarist Carlton Bost and guitarist/keyboardist Rayburn Miller were both in Deadsy and drummer Jamie Miller was from The Start and Snot. Add in bassist Nic Speck and they had Orgy 2012. More…

Sam Loeffler of Chevelle

Chevelle - Ramshead Live!

March 5th, 2012

Hard to believe it's been 12 years since the first time I saw Chevelle. Back then they were the openers on a tour that featured Powerman 5000, Static X and Dope. Out of those bands they really are the only ones that are still out there on a constant basis touring and putting out new material.

Having just released their sixth studio album, Hats Off to the Bull, Chevelle is out on a headlining tour tearing it up and selling out venues left and right. They were in Maryland on March 5th at Ramshead Live! with Janus and Middle Class Rut in tow and of course it was a sold out show More…

Axl Rose

Guns N' Roses - The Fillmore

February 23rd, 2012

We've heard it all before; Will Axl show up? How late will he be? Oh it's not GnR, it's just Axl and some hired "guns"? Oh look how much weight Axl has gained? It's time to put that all aside and move on from there. We all know that the set is a late one, and won’t start at the time it's been scheduled to start. It's not the 80s and seriously how many people look the same as they did back then? Why should we expect it? But the one thing that can be said is when Axl and Co hit that stage, the game is on! More…

Cassadee Pope

Cassadee Pope/Stephen Jerzak/Darling Parade - Soundstage

February 19th, 2012

Hey Monday vocalist Cassadee Pope's first ever solo tour came to the Baltimore Soundstage in Maryland this past weekend. Opening acts included Darling Parade & Stephen Jerzak, each bringing a unique show to warm the crowd up for Cassadee Pope. Darling Parade brought an electric rock and roll show to the stage with front-woman Kristen Kearns' impressive stage presence & vocal range; also she could play the guitar quite well. What really got the crowd moving was when Cassadee Pope ran on stage to perform with Darling Parade, each trading off vocal duties.More…

Bloody Crumpets

Emilie Autumn - Recher Theatre

February 17th, 2012

Having recently recorded her not yet released album Fight Like a Girl, Emilie Autumn is back out on the road doing what she does best, performing! While waiting for her set to begin, one of the club staff asked what or who was Emile Autumn. While many words come to mind, they really don't do her or her craft justice. It's an almost 2 hour performance of Emile and the Bloody Crumpets composed of song and theatrics. I really think it speaks for itself. More…

Bleeding Through - The Great Fire

Rise Records

The Great Fire is the seventh studio album by Orange County, California metal core band Bleeding Through, distributed by Rise Records, it was recorded throughout the majority of the second half of 2011 and features 14 new tracks. The album opens up with the tracks "The March" and "Faith In Fire" which do an incredible job of setting the tone for the album, which can be described as the calm before the storm. The heavy guitar, drum beat and the keyboard mesh together in the track "Goodbye To Death", it's the sort of song that sounds like it will be a great song to have the crowd opening pits up. More…

Trivium

January 14th - Ramshead Live!

We kicked off 2012 with Trivium. Not only did we see them at Ramshead Live! but we also were lucky to catch them for their acoustic set earlier in the day at Angel's Rock Bar. They along with Kyng, who are the opener on the tour, treated fans to three songs each. Trivium performed "Built to Fail", "Dying in Your Arms" and a cover of Iron Maiden's "Iron Maiden". Trivium is not a band that you would imagine doing anything acoustic but if you get a chance to see them perform that way, go see them!

Having seen Trivium a few times now, but mostly in the festival scene, I was definitely looking forward to the longer set as the direct support this tour. More…

Ice Jam 2012

We kicked off 2012 with a couple of really good shows. Trivium on January 14th and Ice Jam on the 15th. A two day event at Sonar, Ice Jam is made up of hardcore and post hardcore bands for the most part. Starting at 1pm each day, the two stages were filled throughout the day as kids moved to and fro the two rooms in the club. It's really a day to familiarize yourself with who is who is the scene and introduce yourself to new bands on the horizon.

Day 2 had the show competing with a football game as the Ravens were in town but you couldn't tell that as the line was wrapped around the building in the freezing cold waiting for the doors to open. More…

2011 - The Year in Review

What a year for us here at earplugsrequired.com as well as unitingthrumusic.com as one could not mention them separately as they have been very intertwined this year. As this new year begins we are looking at moving unitingthrumusic.com to it's "real" url of musiciansopposedtobullying.com and also revamping earplugsrequired.com - so look for those two things shortly!

The year kicked off with the Nightmare After Christmas tour featuring Avenged Sevenfold whom we have to admit is a favorite of ours but really it wasn't until this past summer on the Uproar tour that they seemed to have finally gotten their mojo back and looked like they did prior to the death of their drummer, Jimmy Sullivan. It was great to see that happen. More…

Foo Fighters - Philadelphia/Washington DC

November 10th/11th 2011

There are always those concert experiences that stand out in our minds over the years. This current Foo Fighters tour has definitely logged it's place in our memories as two of the best concerts we have seen. Playing in Philadelphia on a Thursday and Washington DC on a Friday, two sold out nights filled with sold rock and roll.

Kicking off their set with "Bridge Burning" and "Rope" off their most current release Wasting Light, the Foo Fighters started a set that would last over two and a half hours. The set flowed through their seventeen year career, never dragging as sometimes long sets can.More…

Filter - Fillmore Silver Spring

October 17th 2011

A packed house at the Fillmore in Silver Spring for Bush/Chevelle/Filter on the 17th of October. Three bands that have each had large fanbases on their own and combining them here on this tour lent credence for a night of pure rock and roll.

Starting off the night was Filter lead by Richard Patrick. Having seen this band over the years, through many lineup changes, one never knows what will happen during a set of theirs. They kicked off with "Welcome to the Fold", such an appropriate song to begin the night. More…

Uh Huh Her - Keep A Breast Tour

October 12th 2011

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Uh Huh Her are doing their part to spread the word. On tour under the moniker of Keep A Breast, the tour touched down in Washington DC at the 9:30 Club on October 12th and we were lucky to brave the rainy night and catch their set. Do have to admit that the fact that Bobby Alt was on drums for them on this tours as definitely a plus as it's been so long since I have seen him! The early doors for this show proved to be a bit of a hindrance as rush hour traffic combined with the rain made for a slow travel, but the floor of the club filled in just prior to their set. More…

For the major ones you have Vans Warped Tour, Rockstar Mayhem Tour,Rockstar Uproar Tour and this summer they launched a country tour! We at earplugsrequired.com after spending a week on the Vans Warped Tour, decided to spend a day at the Rockstar Mayhem Tour in Bristow, Va catching sets by those at the top of their game in the genre of metal. Vans Warped Tour 2011 - Rock n' Roll Summer Camp

July 2011

Long known as "punk rock summer camp", the Vans Warped Tour should really be known as "band camp" or just plain "music summer camp" as they have branched out and aren't just known for punk music anymore. On any given day, you will have sets of punk, punk pop, metalcore, scream, pop, electronica, dance, etc. at the same time across 9 stages giving concert goers a chance to experience something that they might otherwise miss in a concert that is genre specific..
