Uh Huh Her - October 12th, 2011 - 9:30 Club

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Uh Huh Her are doing their part to spread the word. On tour under the moniker of Keep A Breast, the tour touched down in Washington DC at the 9:30 Club on October 12th and we were lucky to brave the rainy night and catch their set. Do have to admit that the fact that Bobby Alt was on drums for them on this tours as definitely a plus as it's been so long since I have seen him! The early doors for this show proved to be a bit of a hindrance as rush hour traffic combined with the rain made for a slow travel, but the floor of the club filled in just prior to their set. The set combined older material with newer as the band had just released Nocturnes the day prior. Regardless of whether it was new material or old material, the audience, albeit not packed, was one that was totally tuned into the performance. Not having seen Uh Huh Her prior to this, they definitely reminded me of much of the music I grew up loving from the 80s. A note of irony for the night, Camila Grey's voice has a tone that made me wish to hear her cover Siouxie and the Banshee's "Cities in Dust?. I had thought that during the show and then noted the t-shirt that Bobby Alt was wearing - Siouxsie and the Banshees.
