Jagermeister 2008 May 18th, 2008 @ Ramshead Live!
by Courtney Campbell & Michelle Lee
Jagermeister might be known for it's unique taste, for Jager Bombs and Red Headed Sluts, but its name is also synonymous with heavy rock music. The 2008 Jagermeister Tour was no exception. With Hatebreed and Type O Negative as headliners, this tour was bringing the heavy of the heavy to towns across the nation. The third stop on their tour was Baltimore at Rams Head Live! and EarplugsRequired.com was there. Now unlike many shows that are just packed to the max and the crowd only moves when a circle pit opens, this crowd was moving in and out of the floor after each band; fans changing position depending on which band they were here to see. The crowd was a mix of the hardcore fans and the Goths, which definitely made it eclectic.

The night started off with the regional act, Beyond the Scar, and not only were they a regional band, but they were also a hometown band. There were many in the crowd spouting their shirts and not ones that were sold at the show. (Now didn't these people learn the concert rules? You can’t wear the t-shirt of the band that’s playing that night…just kidding; it’s always great to see band support.) Beyond the Scar are pure metal and they sure knew how to get the crowd pumped for what was to come.

Up next was 3 Inches of Blood. This is a band that, while they are fairly new, they have been on some large tours, like Ozzfest 2007 and have gained a steady following. As mentioned before, the crowd shifted and the floor was pumped while they were on stage. Security tonight was definitely going to get a workout.

Click for more photos! The night was fairly young when the first of the co-headliners took the stage. Type O Negative was to be first and the crowd was getting restless. The lights went down and the chants of "YOU SUCK! YOU SUCK!" filled the air. Now having seen Type O Negative quite a few times in the past, this wasn't their typical crowd as it wasn't just a Type O show, but for the most part the floor was filled with their fans. They ended the set with a song dedicated to Dimebag, "Halloween in Heaven". Props to frontman Peter Steele as he came out afterwards and walked through the barricade greeting those in the front row. It was definitely a nice added touch for the fans.

The other co-headliner, Hatebreed, took the stage a little while later. Still touring for their album Supremacy that was released in 2006, the band played a set that was a mixture of their albums and included some new material. The new songs blended right in with the old; when you have a formula that works, don't try to fix it! Now if you have ever seen Hatebreed, you know the energy this band puts forth; the crowd and band feed off each other making it a security person’s nightmare. Not saying it's easy on us photographers either but that comes with the territory (whenever anyone tells me it's going to be a rough show, I comment that I have photographed Hatebreed without any problems).
