So you know the premise. Band uses a reality show to find a new singer. There are 12 people wanting the job and one of them wins and gets to tour with that band. Now that the band is no longer, what's the singer to do? Go on tour and that's what Lukas Rossi who won the Rockstar Supernova gig did.
The tour stopped in Baltimore at Bedrock. For those of you that don't know, Bedrock is the old Vault. Cool place for a show, not too big, easy to get to the bar and yes the show was all ages which Lukas did comment on it being nice to have an all-ages show. The show was acoustic and having heard acoustic versions on Lukas' myspace I was happy for this. He played a fairly long set that was mostly original songs that included "Dead Flowers", "Headspin", "Take a Chance on Me" and "Broken Bridges" with some covers thrown in like Jeff Buckley's "Halleluia", Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer" and Radiohead's "Creep". While I really liked the cover of "Halleluia", it was the cover of "Creep" that I loved. Covers are always compared to the original and Lukas' voice really fit a Radiohead cover.
If it hadn't been for a postcard placed on my car at another show, I wouldn't have known about this show so kudos to the club for getting the word out. Unfortunately the crowd was smaler than I thought he would draw. I know that fellow contestant Toby Rand and his band Juke Kartel drew a packed crowd when he played Fletchers in Baltimore last year. As stated, the current tour is an acoustic one but Lukas did state that his band Stars Down will be touring soon so make sure to keep an eye out for that tour.
