What a difference! That is seriously the easiest thing I can say about going to see Hurt at the Recher on March 12th. Having heard them on myspace and the radio I had wanted to check them out and had been totally disappointed the last time they came through town. Not one to rely on just one exposure to a band I was off to see this band again and was pleasantly suprised. Again they were headlining but this time around they drew their support from virtually unknown bands so the audience was there to see them. Still can't really say crowd yet because it wasn't even half full but give them time.
Just an aside: From the minute Hurt took the stage, I knew this was to be different. There was crowd interaction, frontman J.Loren worked the stage and the music itself felt to have taken on a life of its own. There was more feeling to it. I don't know what was going with them the last time they were in town but when a band is feeling off, it definitely comes across in their music. This wasn't the same band that was here the last time even though personal wise it was. This was a band that I actually would love to see again. The energy that was being put out on stage was felt in the audience and here was an audience that was loyal to their band. I overheard quite a few saying they had seen them the night before and were talking about going to see them the next night on tour as well.
